Only Vanderbilt Race commissioner to drive in the races
William W. Wallace, Jr. was the only Vanderbilt Race commissioner to drive in the races. He was chairman of the Massachusetts Automobile Club race meet committee and a member of the national racing board. Wallace was also a vice-president of the Boston Insurance Company.

William Wallace was the only Vanderbilt Race commissioner to drive in the Vanderbilt Cup Races competing in 1904 and 1910. Alan Clendenen is the current proud owner of Wallace's 1911 FIAT touring car.

Richard Althaus, President, Hicksville Gregory Museum: "I am interested to know if you have any info especially photos in regards to Hicksville in your collection. Mainly the 1904 race, where they had to traverse the railroad in Hicksville, not far from the station. Any info you have would be appreciated."
